About Carole Glover's Pottery

The slip decorating technique requires the potter to work quickly with a confident steady hand if a free flowing design is to be achieved.
Carole ideas are pre -conceived in her mind before spontaneously applying the design freehand to the pot. This method of approach applies to the majority of pots that Carole makes, this is not to say that she does not do any line drawings of a proposed design.
Carole states that line drawings normally apply to commissioned work where it gives her the opportunity to convey the proposed design / thoughts prior to the making when a little more consideration has to be given to shape, layout and spacing.
Caroles’s freestyle slip decorating employs a combination of techniques which involves slip trailing, brushwork, feathering and the pouring of liquid slip.
